Nearly forty years ago, Klaas Puul and his son Evert began their trade in North Sea prawns, fresh from the net and peeled for the local fish markets.
Today the family business still bears the name Klaas Puul, although it is now run by Evert Puul. The business has grown into one of Europe’s largest prawn producers, with branches in the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Germany and Morocco and more than three thousand employees involved in processing and packaging a complete range of prawns and other fish products. Every day in the Dutch towns of Volendam and Edam, fresh prawns are packed to order for delivery to customers early the next morning. Klaas Puul supplies a variety of customers including major European supermarkets, wholesalers and seafood specialty shops.
